In the build up to PM Modi’s visit to US last month it was widely reported that India was setting herself a target of 100GW each of solar and wind power within the next decade. Within the visit itself ‘only’ a billion USD deal was signed. Now plans of the impending solar rush have emerged from several quarters of the media. Labelled by MNRE as the first ‘Renewable Energy Global Investors Meet & Expo (RE – INVEST)’, it would be a fitting follow up to the Make in India initiative. As of now the dates have been announced as 15-17 February, 2015 while expectedly the venue will be New Delhi. As its name suggests, the event aims to attract large scale investments in the renewable energy sector in India.
The event is expected be attended by over 200 domestic and international investors. Besides, representatives from State Governments, PSUs, renewable project developers and manufacturers, state renewable energy nodal agencies and other related stakeholders will play an important role. While the event will be co-organised by MNRE and IREDA industry associations such as CII, FICCI, ASSOCHAM and PHDCII will also be closely associated.
