THE HINDU BUSINESS LINE:
NTPC has commissioned a 5-MW solar PV power station at Faridabad, 10-MW solar PV unit at Unchahar; and a 30-MW solar PV power station at Rajgarh. The thermal power major’s has stated its intent to diversify away from conventional fuels. Shortages in fossil fuels such as coal and gas on account of insufficient domestic supplies have forced the company to buy costly imports.
The three new plants total bring NTPC’s renewable energy capacity to 75 MW, the company said in a statement on Monday. However non-conventional energy projects account for a tiny fraction of NTPC’s total commercial capacity of 41,859 MW
